Farm Party #4 at Asagaya Gamuso, 10/24/10
Had a thoroughly good time DJing and loitering suspiciously at Tokyo Gig Guide’s fourth fabulous Farm Party last Sunday. Craig did a superb job of organizing and getting together a very interesting bunch of avant-garde bands and DJs.
Biggest thanks of all to him for asking me to DJ and for putting on such a great party, and to Henna Dress (eerie, atonal, good), ii (lovely lads, one DJed some fine awesomeness), OPQ (my faves, pictured below being ambient with various objects) and Moon Face Boys (there was only one boy, and I was downstairs and missed him, sorry!) for the tunes, and my man Timebred for making me make a fool of myself by doing the thing I always promise myself I’ll never do but always do – going up to a DJ and shouting the names of the bands he’s playing, like some kind of Ben Sherman-ed tool at a Weller convention. Goblin! Magazine! Camberwell NOW!
Huge thanks also to everyone who told me during my set that they were enjoying themselves, and those who even danced (!) to the following tracks which are what I played:
ALEKSANDRA MIR – Bingo Blues
YOKO ONO – Why
STEREOLAB – Emperor Tomato Ketchup
MAGICAL RING – Touch As Much
MANFRED KRUG – Wenn’s draußen grün wird
MENELIK WOSSENATCHEW – Belew Bebudaye
THE SABRAS – Estemen
THE WALLACE BROTHERS – Precious Words
THE INVITATIONS – Written On The Wall
KEITH HUDSON – Turn The Heater On
HENRI SALVADOR – Pauvre Jesus-Christ
HILDEGARD KNEF – Im 80. Stockwerk
Песняры – Косил Ясь
BLACK STAR MUSICAL CLUB – Mno Nasubini
LES ABRANIS – Chenar Les Blues
MISTER LOF & BARREL COPPET – Jeunesse vauclin
I love you!
